Girls grow as leaders by experience
in creativity, collaboration
and contribution

The dream of "Pearls for Girls" is for all girls to receive the education they need to create healthy futures, for themselves and for their communities. Currently this dream is out of reach for many girls, especially those living in Africa who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

To change this reality, teenagers in developed countries are
invited to build their leadership skills through "Pearl Bees" where
they come together and create jewelry to raise funds for the
education and leadership development of girls in developing
countries. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to tell
stories and share conversations across generations, on issues
that matter.

The first focus of "Pearls for Girls" will be to support girls orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho, Southern Africa, the country with the third highest incidence HIV/AIDS in the world. Through Help Losotho (www.helplesotho.ca), "Pearls for Girls" will contribute funds to sponsor:
• Individual child sponsorships for high school tuition, uniforms, and books
• A yearly girls' Leadership camp, and
• Material assistance for grandmothers raising orphaned girls.
