Meet Katleho—a 13-year-old Pearl Program participant. Katleho lives with her grandmother and two siblings after her mother relocated to South Africa for work. She loves school and was upset to learn that the COVID-19 lockdown would affect her start in high school. She has been facing a number of challenges including a fallout with a friend and bullying because of an eye impairment. Katleho is so thankful to be part of the Pearl Program. Since joining,she has become more hopeful for her future. with increased self-esteem and confidence to stand up to bullies. She has also learned to work through her feelings by writing them in her Pearl Girl journal. She is very thankful for the COVID-19 food relief packages she has received from Help Lesotho, and is now able to eat three nutritious meals every day!
